How to add a new website page in 5 minutes

I’ll be honest: I kept meaning to add a 404 page to this website and just… didn’t. Too many things to do, too little time. The good news? With a modern setup (AI website editing + headless CMS), adding a new page is a five-minute task you can do from your phone.

Below is exactly how I created a clean, on-brand 404 “Page Not Found” page—step by step, with prompts you can copy and screenshots to follow.

What you’ll use (no code needed)

  • AI website agent (works in mobile, web, or Slack): you tell it what you want in plain English. A common option is Cursor AI using GPT-5
  • Version control: the agent opens a change request so you can review safely. We recommend Github
  • Preview hosting: every change gets a quick link you can click and share. A common option is Vercel.

The 5-minute flow

1) Tell your AI agent what you want

Open your AI website editor (mobile, web, or Slack) and send:

Prompt (copy/paste):
Paste “Create a minimal 404 page with on-brand design. Include a headline, one-line explanation, and button back to the homepage.” on cursor.com/agents

The agent will scaffold the page template, wire up the route, and prepare a change request with a preview link.

2) Watch AI Work (optional)

You’ll begin to see a human-readable list of actions being taken: full thought-process, list of files changed, confirmation of new route created.

Reviewing this 'thought process' is fully optional, but it's good practice since you are always fully in control and you have visibility into exactly what changes are taking place to your website.

3) Open the preview link and spot-check

Click the preview link the hosting provider generated. Voilà! You see exactly the changes made and they are looking very good and fully on-brand.

From our simple prompt, the AI agent delivered this new page fully end-to-end with no intervention needed.

Quick checks (30 seconds):

  • Branding looks consistent (logo, fonts, colors)
  • Copy is in line with our professional brand.
  • Button is a standardized component.
  • Button is prominent and navigates to the homepage
  • The browser tab shows desired page title.
  • Fully mobile responsive.

If you want a small layout adjustment (e.g., change the content or add a subtle illustration), simply tell the agent.

Prompt (optional):
“Change the button text to say 'Home' instead of 'Back to Home'”

In my case, what the AI agent delivered was perfect from the first try. It looks better designed than if I would have designed it, and took me minutes instead of hours.

4) Approve & publish

Everything look good? Click Merge. Your preview is promoted to production instantly.

That’s it. You’ve added a fully branded new page—without clicking through a confusing no-code platform nor a code editor.

Reuse this workflow for any page

Once you’ve done one new page, you can repeat the exact flow for:

  • Promo landing pages (“Create a landing page for our Fall Offer. Route /fall-offer. Headline, benefits list, form, and FAQ.”)
  • Thank-you pages after form submissions
  • Locations or services pages using a reusable template
  • System pages: Password reset confirmation, successful newsletter subscription
“Speed creates momentum. Our website migration clients love this modern approach because it allows them to grow faster and deliver an excellent experience to their customers.” — Sean Chun

Troubleshooting (when it’s not 5 minutes)

  • Preview doesn’t match brand: Ask the agent to “use shared button component"
  • Shows in menu: “Hide this page from navigation and footers.”
  • Appears in search results: "Ensure noindex is on and the page is excluded from sitemaps."
  • Colors looks off: “Does the text color match other pages?”

Final Thoughts

The best part is the confidence this workflow gives you. Instead of feeling blocked by developer bandwidth or struggling with a drag-and-drop editor, you can now manage your brand’s digital presence with speed and precision. In less time than it takes to reply to a Slack thread, you’ve published a polished, on-brand page that keeps your website professional and consistent.

If you’re responsible for growth, you already know momentum is everything. The faster you can test, launch, and iterate, the faster your campaigns succeed. And with AI handling the grunt work, you can focus on what really matters—strategy, messaging, and results.
